SEMCO Celebrates Women’s History Month

Women's History Month is an annual observance in March since 1978 celebrating the contributions and achievements of women throughout history and society.

"Reflecting on Women’s History Month, I see it as a time to recognize progress and the work still ahead.  Women in utility have reshaped the industry by leading with diverse voices and viewpoints enhancing decision-making, financial performance, and innovation.

Here for Michigan reflects the heart of SEMCO’s core values and mission. It represents our shared commitment to serving the people, businesses, and communities of this state with integrity, reliability, and care.

My commitment to Michigan goes far beyond my professional role. As a volunteer on the McKenzie Health Systems Community Relations Committee, I support a small rural hospital that plays an essential role in the health and wellbeing of our local families, businesses, workers and ageing populations. By working at SEMCO and volunteering with McKenzie, I am contributing both to the health and infrastructure of the state which are all a part of what keeps Michigan resilient, connected and thriving."

National Gas Utility Worker's Day (USA) - March 18, 2026

Today, March 18, SEMCO proudly joins utilities across the country in celebrating Natural Gas Utility Workers' Day, a moment dedicated to recognizing the incredible individuals who keep our natural gas systems safe, reliable, and resilient. This day honors the professionals who work around the clock—often behind the scenes and in challenging conditions—to ensure our customers have the energy they depend on every day. This day honors SEMCO Employee, like Niles Boulier, Gas Mechanic A.

“I find purpose and pride in upholding our legacy of safety and reliability.  From day one, I have worked with fantastic people and mentor others to never stop trying to be the best version of yourself. The communities we serve depend on us and I’ll keep that mindset until I hang up my boots.”
