Shut Offs
We are dedicated to providing the friendly, affordable gas service
you desire and to respond promptly to your needs. Gas service is
shut off for one of the following reasons:
Upon customer request. Call toll-free 1-800-624-2019 and a Customer Service Representative will be glad to assist you in discontinuing your service.
Non-payment of bills for gas service (an account becomes subject to collection action if it has not been paid within five days after the due date.)
Failure to post a cash security deposit or a written guarantee.
Unauthorized interference or tampering with SEMCO ENERGY equipment or unauthorized diversion or use of gas service.
Failure to comply with the terms and conditions of any settlement agreement.
Refusal to grant access, at reasonable times, to SEMCO ENERGY personnel for the purpose of inspection, meter reading, equipment maintenance or replacement.
Misrepresentation of identity for the purpose of obtaining gas service.
Violations of any other rules or regulations approved by the Michigan Public Service Commission which adversely affect the safety of customers or other persons, or the integrity of SEMCO ENERGY's gas delivery system.
It is important to contact SEMCO ENERGY before the service is subject to shut-off. We will work with you to set up a suitable payment arrangement or advise you of assistance agencies in your area.
