The Heat And Warmth Fund, THAW, is an independent non-profit (501(c)(3) agency that provides low-income individuals and families with emergency energy assistance and advocates for long-term energy solutions.
Charity Navigator has rated THAW a FOUR STAR charity (the highest rating available) for SEVEN years in a row. This means that THAW “exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities.”
Since its inception, $90.4 million in assistance has been distributed to more than 143,000 Michigan households, including elderly, unemployed, underemployed, disabled individuals who found themselves in temporary crisis.
During the 2009-2010 heating season, THAW distributed $7.9 million in energy assistance to 9,204 households.
